=IF(B2="",A1,N(A1)+1)





Why it is showing 66 so many times instead of once?

please add attachements so that we dont have to recreate the data and guess what you have in certain colunmns

Attaching the file will take off several days from you getting right answer probably, but on wild guess from 2 mm I can see about column B, it looks like cells B82:B88 are merged.

merged cells are again the problem. Everyone on this board is saying the same thing - dont use them.

as a test in your file go to cell c1 and type =b1, this will show you want excel 'sees' (0 is am emtpy cell) so at row 21, excel can see that it contiains the merged data and therefore adds 1 to the number above, 22 is empty so it repeats the number above
