Formula to add +1 to a sequence
What formula would work to make the change from RE249869000xxx00xxxx0001 to RE249869000xxx01xxxx0001 and the next RE249869000xxx02xxxx0001 and all the way to RE249869000xxx99xxxx0001

For example:
="RE249869000xxx" & TEXT(ROW()1,"00")& "xxxx0001" However, this isn't going to produce RE249869000xxx99xxxx0001 on row 12. The logic for that result escapes me.

That worked perfectly
now, can we make the 0001 go to 9999 in the same formula?

Really, that's a trivial change to the formula. How about studying it instead of expecting to be spoonfed. Otherwise, you'll learn nothing.

If D is the column, In the column where you would like the new values output enter the formula =a1+$D$1 and copy down the column. Now whatever value you put in D1 will be added to the values in column A. if you want to subtract, just enter 1 into D1.

CJustin: I have to wonder whether you bothered to read the question … or the answer in post #2.
