Default Import Excel Data from email attachment

Hi all,

Here's some background...

My office received daily emails with an excel file attached that is password protected. Every day, we open up the excel file attachment and copy/paste the daily data into a consolidated spreadsheet.

This consumes a lot of manpower each day, and there has to be a better/more efficient way to do this.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Thank you!

Opening the email and then the worksheet don't sound all that bothersome; I'm just guessing, here, but I take it that transferring the data must be more complicated than a simple cut-and-paste.

I'm about to prove the truth of the old saying that when all you have is a hammer, everything starts to look like a nail: Knowing no more about your problem than that, it sounds to me as though you want to write a VBScript program. It can probably be taught to find the relevant email, and it can certainly check for the proper attachment, open it, and (assuming the data is easily recognizable) copy the data to the master workbook.

It's not as easy to write as to say, but since that's the sort of chore I enjoy it's the first solution I'd think about. It doesn't even have to be in an Excel VBA program; VBS can handle both Outlook email and Excel workbooks without you having to enter Excel first.

But you would have to learn how to write programs. What do you already know about programming, and what are you willing to learn?
