Could it be your locale requires a semicolon (;) instead of a comma (,)?

I also think the problem is you have different separator defined in Regional Settings. Considered your posting time, it looks like you are from Europe, so probably the formula must be

=MOD(ROW();2)=0 or when you want to format based on table rows instead of sheet rows, then like =MOD(ROW() - ROW($A$1);2)=0 |
