Default Auto filling a calendar based on dates inputted

This is hard to describe but the attachment has the example. I have a 365 grid calendar and below it a table with Rows: Date, Type, Details. In to that table we input the date that an employee has received a caution.

What i want to do is have the data also appear on the grid calendar above for example, an employee receives an informal warning on 12/3/19 and i want that information (once entered in to the table) to turn the corresponding cell on the calendar to the appropriate colour and code for an informal warning. Which in this example would be a red cell with the letters "IW" in it on the grid under the cell for 12/3/19.

In the attached, cells C9:C20 contain actual dates (the firsts of the month) and so also contain year information. You can revert to showing just the month as I have done in cell C15.
AZ9:AZ20 contain new values for a vlookup, but I was being lazy and should have used index/match on your other table at AM9:AN18.
There are formulae in the range D9:AH20 (one formula copied down and across).
If there are duplicate dates only the uppermost will show.
