Default Help with pasting screen shots in Excel

I intend to collect hundreds of screen shots and place them in Excel because it is very easy to scroll through them later on. I will gather around 50 per day. However after placing few tens of them, the file size gets huge and Excel displays a "Not responding" message when saving the file. After a while the message disappears and the file is saved. However I fear that I will soon reach a point when it will eventually crash.

My question is what if anything can be done to reduce the size of the images? I tried placing them first in Paint and reducing them from 100 to 50% and then adding them to Excel, but the Excel file size is only slightly smaller. So this way doesn't work.

The screen shots I collect contain numbers, so not a great deal of resolution is needed. To give you an idea a screen shot contains around 50 rows and 15 columns with numbers up to 7 digits.

I use Office 2010 and my Excel file currently reached 701Mb. I tried saving the file as a 2003 Excel file and the size went down to 35Mb, but when I work with this file it also displays the Not responding message when saving, but it only lasts few seconds and then it's saved. It will soon reach a point when it won't work anymore.

In case this can help, I use the Snipping tool to collect the screen shots I need.

Thank you,
Dual Trace
