Formula typed but not evaluated

I use excel 2003. i typed the formula =PRODUCT(H2,0.21) but it is displayed, not evaluated
I have set, at the beginning, all the worksheet with text cell format, but now changed to general but it doesn't change anything

Are you saying that the cell simply shows the formula and not the result of the formula?

Select Ctrl +`

That is Ctrl + the grave accent key

I pressed Ctrl+` but nothing happened, the formula remained visible.
The first time i pressed Ctrl+` the formula toolbar appeared but i didn't find there anything helpful.
The next times i pressed Ctrl+` nothing at all happened

I cannot duplicate your problem then. Can you attach the offending workbook? Does this happen with all workbooks or just this one? What about a new workbook?

It doesn't happen in a new worksheet

Place you cursor in front of the "=" in the formula and press backspace.

That cleared it for me.

I did that and at the beginning it did nothing (same problem)
But then i pressed Ctrl+z (undo), it restored the situation to no spacebar and worked

1. Check the format of cell with formula - when Text then change to General;
2. Press F9. When the formula calculates, then you have calculation set to "Manual calculation". Set calculation to "Automatic"
