Default Duplicate words in cells (or how to split cell in exactly half)

I made some minor mistake in collecting data and what happens now is that I have a beautiful excel file with a column reading something like this:

Code:
Alice and BobAlice and Bob
Roger and CharlesRoger and Charles
I need to remove the extra information, but I have not been able to find a way to do so. Clearly, It is not possible to use text to column, but I thought there must be a way to fix this. Any tip? (Please! It's 13,000 rows!)

Thanks!

You won't be able to do that in the original cell without using VBA, but
you can get what you want in another column using a formula
=LEFT(A2,LEN(A2)/2)

When all names are single-word names (or there are only a couple of them), you can use Text to Columns option of Excel with space as delimiter. You get columns with names, columns with "and", and a lot of empty columns (one for every space). And then delete all abundant ones (checking before for names which need editing).
