have used regedit and run excel as administrator to remove add-in. still getting error message.

There is a correct way to remove Excel addins and that's not it. See: https://support.office.com/en-us/art...8-403625a0b460

I, originally, tried that method. It did not work until Excel was run as administrator. After that was done the add-in was removed. However, after it was remover the error remained.

If you cannot uninstall the addin from a user account, you should do so from an account with administrative privileges, not merely run Excel was as administrator.

The add-in has not been the problem. It was removed. The problem is the file not found error message whenever Excel is opened.

And it's improper removal is most likely has led to that situation, as all of the associated references have not been removed.

Perhaps try CCleaner to remove associated references?

That was a good idea. Unfortunately, it didn't work.
