I just (re-)discovered the SPLIT functionality in Excel by which you can virtually split your screen into four. That's very practical to keep an eye on two different areas of a large Excel table.


My issue with that is that these virtual windows are not really independent: When I navigate the right-hand one sideways, the left-hand one does not move - but when I move up or down, the left-hand one does so, too. OK, it has to show the same rows, I can understand why this would be necessary - but not in this particular instance. Can I somehow turn this off?
Likewise, the lower window and the upper window are independent only when navigating up or down - when navigating sideways, they go in sync. Again, I understand why this would usually make sense, but in this particular instance I'd rather it would not do that - can I somehow turn it off?
