I want to convert daily data to yearly data. My data is from 01/01/1989 to 31/12/2006.



The attached excel file contain 3 variables one is date announce that I want to be converted from daily to yearly and its format could be 1989, 1990 and so on after conversion. % of Cash is variable that I suppose to add up. while Acquiror cusip is a company name that would remain same for the same company.

You can use a Pivot Table.

First, get the YEAR of each entry, in D2 enter formula: =YEAR(A2) copied down.

Then while you have one of the cells in the data selected go to Insert Menu and select Pivot Table. You can drag the Year and Company to the Row fields area and you can drag the % of Cash to the Summation area (to change to Sum instead of Count, click on Count of % of Cash, go to Value Field Settings and choose Sum.
