Grouping Dates in Pivot Table
I am using Excel 2016. I have a date field in the column and want to group by month and year. When I right click on a date and select Group I get a dialog box that says Can't Group That Selection??
I've checked and I don't seem to have any missing dates and the column in the data tab is formatted as a date field (although I am using an equation to get the date). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. |

Are the dates in your source range real dates or text looking like dates? To check this use the ISNUMBER function on the cells containing " dates" or check if the data is left or right aligned ( if no custom alignment is applied)
If they are left aligned it's text Also check if you don't have date AND time ( perhaps you used the NOW() function somewhere)?
