Default Charts not WYSIWYG?

I'm new to Windows 7 & Excel 2007, & it baffles me that the printout of charts doesn't follow the proportions, font sizing, nor margins as displayed in the embedded charts in the worksheet.

Font sizes of axis labels and titles are much larger on printout (and as shown in print preview) than as specified in the chart, and even after I set custom margins to a minimum there is a large residual space reserved for nonexistent header & footer, which I can't seem top get rid of. Oh, and data series markers now all print (& display in print preview) much larger than specified in the chart. I'm using an HP Officejet, could it be something messed up in the printer driver?
