Default Excel Tax - Multiply IF

Hope I can explain this well..... I am familiar with using the SUMIF function as I have used it a little in the past.

I keep track of all income for my side business in excel. Each row is used for a separate sale and calculates across to a column labeled "Total Sale" I then multiply that "Total Sale" by 7% in order to calculate the sales tax.

A lot of my clients are tax exempt. Is there a way that if I create another column labeled "Tax Exempt" and place an "x" in that field it will not calculate the tax for that specific sale?

I have attached a screen shot of what I am looking for...
