dynamic ranges to calculate average

i have a time series in which a varying amound of values are recorded per day. I would like to compute the average per day.

I have tried to work with if-statements to define when one day stops and the next ends, but I would have to make a second one to define the range and now I am stuck. I have not found any other good solution in forums, please help.
