I find it preposterous that I can't set a date format of MM/DD/YY as an type option. I must be doing something wrong. To get what I want, I'm formatting the date cells as text. Seems a bit ridiculous to me. So what am I missing? Thanks.

Have you tried using the canned format Short Date?
