Default Sometimes unable to save Excel 2007

This is a recent development but appears to have been evident in earlier versions of Windows. Sometimes, but not always, I can't save an Excel workbook. I get an error message referring to a sharing violation. The only way to save the changes is to close Excel completely and then reopen it and make the changes again.

An internet search (but nothing in this forum turned up) suggests something called Hotfix but wants me to download and install from a Non Microsoft site and is referring to W7 or Vista.

I am using W10. The only possible sharing violation is that I am storing all my data in the cloud and it is in a Google Drive folder.
