How do I populate Worksheets using information entirely from another Worksheet in the same Workbook?
I know this is something very simple, but Google has returned a great many results that are perhaps similar to my question, but not close enough to give me the answer I need.
My Grandma has asked me to catalog her belongings so she can keep track of which heirlooms will be passed down to which of her 4 kids, 4 kids-in-law, 8 grandkids (and 3 grandkids-in-law), 6 great-grandkids, or others. It's a big list already, and we haven't even begun to finish it. I have typed up everything she wants to pass on in Column A. In Column B, I have typed the name of the person it is going to. If this list were complete, I would perhaps simply sort the list so all the like-names appear together, then copy and paste each person's list onto their own sheet. But this is a list-in-progress, and I'd like the individuals' sheets to keep up with the changes. In Columns C and D, I have check boxes for whether or not the item has already been given to them. What I want the subsequent lists to look like is just the list of items, and then the check boxes. The Sheet name will be the person's name, so their name itself does not need to transfer, just the heirloom and whether or not they have it yet. I took a college Excel course just last year. It was fun and easy, but I haven't needed to use it a single time since then, so I have forgotten all of the maneuvers I learned! I am very sure we learned this, and I recall it being fun and cool, not complicated. Is that true? (Please?! ) Anyway, please advise. Thank you!! |

See, for example, either of:
http://windowssecrets.com/forums/sho...l=1#post734296 http://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...ml#post2567119 (same workbook in both). For what you're trying to do it would be best to keep the checkboxes on the master sheet. That way, things won't get out of synch on the recipient sheets if the master sheet gets re-arranged. An alternative would be to ditch the recipient sheets and use a Word mailmerge to list the items by recipient.
