Selecting a digit from a code
BP76412008 is a code for a pile. The sixth digit is the depth of the pile. What function would I use to extract this number to compare it with the depth recommended by the engineer.

Assuming BP76412008 is in A1, you could use a formula like:
=MID(A1,6,1)
