Default all of my formulas quit automatically calculating

spreadsheet i use every day...today, the formulas quit automatically calculating. i have to reinput the formulas in each section. all sections have quit calculating until i redo.



i remember a field in the toolbar (which i cannot find now) that said something like, formulas automatically calculate"? can't find in this version of Excel, Windows 7

Do you mean the formulas stay there and don't do anything?

But when you edit them they work? Then probably those cells have been formatted as text

Format as General and hit enter

Yes, Pecoflyer. my formula is still in each cell. but totals do not tally when i insert values or make changes. i had to add the "calculate now" button to update all the formulas.

You could try:

Press File (on the Ribbon), then Options. In the Excel Options dialog select Formulas. Check that Automatic Calculation is enabled.

Formulas tab, Calculation Options dropdown on the right, change to Automatic.
