Using multiple conditions with an IF statement?? to show a yes/no value
OK folks, I'll try to be as clear as possible.
We are tracking the pre-shift safety talks given by our supervisors. All safety talks fall into one of 20ish different categories. For each department, there are several category topics that are considered to be High Risk issues. The High Risk topics vary by department (ex: Lockout/Tagout is High Risk for Maintenance, but not for the Office department) Currently supervisors fill out a spreadsheet to track their talks. Using conditional drop down lists, they enter the Department and the Topic of the safety talk (there are other things entered, but they're not important here). They are also required to use a drop down list to select if the topic covered is one of the High Risk topics for that department. They are terrible at this. They get it wrong most of the time and I'm looking for a way to automate this part of the form. Here is what I would like to have happen: The supervisor selects the Department and the Topic of the safety talk, then a formula looks to see if that Topic is considered a High Risk Topic for that Department. If it is, then it will enter 'YES' in the High Risk column, if it is not, it will enter 'NO'. On another sheet I have lists of the High Risk topics divided by Department (eg: cell A1 has the department name 'Maintenance', cells A2:A6 have the different topics that are considered high risk for Maintenance). So the formula would look at the Department name entered into the form, then compare the Topic entered into the form with the list of high risk topics for that department on the other sheet and enter Yes or No into the form. Sounds as clear as mud to me, hopefully you can give me some indication of where to go. Thanks |
