Default Counting Grades on Excel Spreadsheet

There is a large MS Excel spreadsheet with the following information in separate columns:

1. 1. College names.
2. 2. Student names.
3. 3. Grades A to F for each examination they have taken (8 exams in total). The grades are in letter format rather than figures.

What function do I use on MS Excel to calculate:
(a)· Which student obtained the greatest number of ‘A’ grades?
(b)· Which college obtained the greatest number of ‘A’ grades?

I have been going through various methods to solve this but without success. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
