Default Create a colored watch window?

I am trying to create a colored watch window or just some sort of floating box that is 30 rows high (to represent 30 days). I will be using it as a measuring stick instead of a real watch window.

EX: Under column A, I have a watch window (or floating box) 30 rows high, under column B, I have different dates of the month, and column C, I have a list of 500 names. I want to be able to scroll up/down and see how many times a particular name shows up in that 30 day time period. I can do it with a regular watch window but would prefer just a solid color floating box or color the watch window.

Hope this makes sense.
