I use pivot tables a lot. Mot because I want to, but because another programme MS Project) I use creates them for exporting data. It also produces pretty graphs, which tend to be what my co workers and client want to see (as its a pretty graph).

I have managed to work through the tables that get spat out, and can make them look more or less as I want them, but still have a few problems. The main one is where I get a graph of resource use over time (plant and labour). I can split this into individual items- e.g. just show labourers or pavers- and can adjust time scales. One of things I cannot do is adjust the axis- MSP calculates in hours, and I need to show by days. Apologies for the bad description, its really just an example of what I cant do.

The question is not how do I do these things, but does anyone have recommendations for a fairly straightforward, simple, book/blog/website etc. that I can run through to give me more knowledge? Most of what I have gone through assumes a greater knowledge of pivot tables than I have, and trying to work up from something that is beyond me in the first place is a lot more work than I can really spend- the tables are the icing on the cake as it were, as opposed to the end result.

Thanks in advance, hopefulyl someone can set me right on this

As you are using 2010 perhaps have a look at the free PowerPivot Add-in provided by Microsoft to help you with PT's.
A good place for info http://www.contextures.com/CreatePivotTable.html ( there are probably many more)
For charts http://peltiertech.com/Excel/Charts/ChartIndex.html
