Default Excel 2013 Graphs automatically aligning data labels to end of bar

Hi

In Excel 2013 I am wanting to align the data labels in a graph automatically to be at the end of the bar (in a bar graph obviously).

I know how to move them manually, but I remember there used to be a way to make it move them all automatically.

Can anyone suggest how to do this?

Thanks.

Can you clarify this a little further?

When I create a bar chart in Excel 2013 and go to the Chart Elements In-Chart button and tick Data Labels. Mine are coming up automatically at the end of the bar as shown in your image.

Is this not the case for yours?

Right click on one of the labels and select Format Data Labels.

Hi

When I add the data labels, the pop up on the end outside the bars (see image). I am needing them at the end inside the bars.

If I right click and Format Data Labels - what do I click after that?

Thanks!

Hi

I cant seem to find that option on my version (Excel 2013). See attached screenshot of what options I do get.

I remember having this function in older versions of Excel, but can't seem to track it down on the new one

I had no idea they changed that option so significantly. That doesn't look anything like the dialog in 2010. I did a little googling on the topic and surprisingly nothing turned up at all so all I can conclude at this point is that they removed that bit of functionality perhaps thinking that they thought it didn't add any utility over moving them manually.

Sorry about assuming it was the same. I should not have weighed in. Hopefully someone with 2013 will. In the meantime, I will try and redeem myself with a bit more research. I will be upgrading eventually. Looks like another significant learning curve.

One thing I've found is this free add in that assists the manual placement.

Thanks for trying to help out anyway. I will definitely check that add-in.

Another 'improvement' by Microsoft in Office 2013. If only I could go back to the older versions!
