formula for arriving at a result on condition
dear sirs
i have a sheet with the following headers: B C D 1 Name Amount tax 2 XYZ 100 i would like to have a formula to get the tax amount (say 3%) on the amount shown in c2. the tax element varies from person to person. will the following formula work: =iif((b2="XYZ"),round(c2*3%,2))," please correct me if i am wrong. thanks m s narayanan" |

Nope. IIF is an Access function. IF is the Excel Function. Other than that:
* the parentheses around b2="XYZ" are superfluous * there is no ELSE option in the formula * the ," at the end will cause an error * the whole thing looks like a kludge No idea what you are trying to accomplish. |

thanks for your reply. i got the clue from your mail i.e. iif function relates to access and not to excel. from the clue, i could solve my problem. m s narayanan |
