Default Creating colour coded columns and auto-generete statistic in separate sheet

I´ve totally got stuck on a task at work and needs help. I´m working with a large register sheet and needs to

a) Colour code specific columns. At first a did this by formatting three different tables with different colures but then I realized that will mess Everything up when I sort by name . I have four columns in which the rows should alternate between red and white, four that should be blue and with and three that should be green and white. Any ideas?

b) I need to make statistics on the number of positions we have in the register, both total and divided into various groups. Wants I way to do this automatically (so that as we add positions(in new rows) the statistic is auto-updated. No clue how to do this. Is there a macro for this? Or maybe a formula. The tricky thing is that I want the statistic to be on a separate sheet. Info in Sheet 1-4 should generate statistic in sheet 5.
