Default Help with a sum calculation please.

Hi,

Currently working with a really big spreadsheet containing tens of thousands of row of data.

At random intervals within the data there is a sub total which I need to calculate and then average. The trouble is the randomness of where the info appears. The data I need to calculate is always in Column C to the right of a cell in column B that is called total.

I'm guessing there is some method of searching the totals and adding what is next to them, only trouble is I don't really know how, hence my desperate plea!

If anyone does have an idea it would be much appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

Hi, thanks for replying!

Sample attached, so the total is titled Application Time, this appears at random intervals in Column B, in the next cell in Column C is the actual total.

I am looking to capture these totals adding them together to calculate some averages. Hope this is clear.

Yes, this is just the kind of thing I'm looking for. Your magic has highlighted a further query problem.

The idea of the data is to capture and prove high levels of productivity. With my examples there are a large number of tasks taking short periods. With the odd task far longer, probably due to lunch or other duties. I think I need to strip these out average with a mode or median rather than the straight mean.

Still this is further towards a solution that a was earlier, so thank you very much!
