Default Inserting Fractions

On my laptop I can use Fn+Alt+171 to insert ½, 172 for ¼ and 0190 for ¾. Does anybody know how to do the same for 1/8, 3/8, 5/8 and 7/8? I have seen codes for them 215B, 215C, 215D and 215E but they don't seem to work in the same way. I am sure there is a simple explanation to this issue!

You can simply in a cell enter zero ("0") followed by a space and then a fraction, e,g, 0 1/2 or 0 1/8 and then hit Enter

Otherwise, 1/8 becomes a date and NOT shown as a fraction

The way I have shown you can be used as a math formula, e.g.,

1/2 + 1/2 summed becomes 1
