I am having a problem with a formula I am trying to type in a cell. I know I am not typing it correctly because I am not getting the answer I expect.

Cell C7 represents r and C8 represents d

Please see attachment for the formula I'm trying to type.

Think I might of solved it using this:

=((2*D7)+(SQRT(4*(D7^2)-(D8^2))))/2

Does that look ok?

Looks OK to me
