Default Day date and time cell display

Office '07

My intent is to have a cell display the current date and time.

I first use the shortcut 'ctrl + ;' to enter the date, then I hit the space bar and then I use 'ctrl + shift + :' to enter the time.

while I'm hightlighting the cell, the correct date and time appear in the top of page data bar that reflects cell contents, but only the date appears in the actual cell. When I leave the cell, again, only the date appears.

This is not a formatting condition. I can shrink the point size all the way down and still only the date appears in the cell?

Mark
