Separate lines in an Excel cell - possible? If so, how?
Is it possible to separate items in an Excel cell into separate lines? Other than using the space bar to make it appear as though there are separate lines?
For example (I created this in Word because I do not know how to do it in Excel, if it is possible): Abcdefg Bcdedfgh Cdefghij Defghijk 123412345 22344 721341234 8234243 92424 Asdfasdf 312525 42341234 104223 1124234 Basdfasdf 51524 6234234 Easdf Fasdf Thanks, Mary |

I just looked at the post after submitting it. The data is supposed to be in a 4-column, 3-row table. But, I suppose that my point should get across anyway - even if it looks like the data is in a single cell. The question is the same. Thanks!

Hi,
I sanitized my worksheet and attached it. So, where there is more than one numbered cell in Column E associated with the "item" in Column A (e.g., "AAAAAAAA1", "AAAAAAAA2", etc.), I would ideally like to separate the numbered items within a single cell instead of putting them in separate cells. For example: Currently, if there is more than one "step", it appears in separate cells - as follows: ------------------------------------- | 1. asdfasdfsadf sdfsdf asdf sdf | | asdf asdf sda fasd fasd f sdi | ------------------------------------- | 2. asdfasdfsadf sdfsdf asdf sdf | | asdf asdf sda fasd fasd f sdi | ------------------------------------- ... and so on ... I would instead like the "steps" to appear in the same cell - as follows: ------------------------------------- | 1. asdfasdfsadf sdfsdf asdf sdf | | asdf asdf sda fasd fasd f sdi | | 2. asdfasdfsadf sdfsdf asdf sdf | | asdf asdf sda fasd fasd f sdi | | 3. asdfasdfsadf sdfsdf asdf sdf | | asdf asdf sda fasd fasd f sdi | | 4. asdfasdfsadf sdfsdf asdf sdf | | asdf asdf sda fasd fasd f sdi | | 5. asdfasdfsadf sdfsdf asdf sdf | | asdf asdf sda fasd fasd f sdi | ------------------------------------- Thanks, Mary |

Hi,
I found my answer (buried) in a Microsoft Office reference book and also via Google. In case anyone else needs to have separate lines in a cell, do the following:
