Default Update cells on demand

This should be easy but I can't find the answer . . . maybe because I don't know the lingo.

I have a spreadsheet and want the cells to update on demand. Currently when I place a value in, say, F4, it automatically copies the data to A4. I only want the data to copy to A4 on demand - not automatically. How do I do that?

Is there a formula in A4 or are you using a macro?

Some are formulas. Some are entered values.

Do you mean you want the calculations to only update manually?
If this is what you mean then you can go into the Formulas tab and click the Calculation Options button. Choose Manual. Alternatively you can also do this through File > Options and select the Formulas categories. At the top there is a section for "Workbook Calculations". Change this setting to Manual and you can select or unselect to Recalculate workbook before saving. Click OK and you will now need to press the Calculate Now button in the Formulas tab to have your calculations update.
