Default Is there an option to choose font color when replacing text in Excel 2003?

Hello to all,

Is it possible to replace text with a particular font color in Excel 2003?

I am using an old version of Excel, and it does not give the option of font color choice when replacing text. I was going to purchase Microsoft Office 2003, but wanted to ask first if it would be able to do this.

Thanks,

Chris

Yes, but the replacement colour applies to the whole cell, not just the replacement text. See Edit|Replace|Replace with>Format|Font.

Thank you, Paul.

Are there any versions of Excel that can apply the selected color to only the replacement text, and not the whole cell?

AFAIK, no. In all versions, though, it would be possible to do it with a macro.

What about if I had the text in Word, and in Word I render some words different colors. When I copy the text from Word and paste it into a cell in an Excel 2003 spreadsheet, would Excel 2003 keep the different colors?

If you copy & paste formatted content from Word into Excel, all the text formatting is retained.

When copying and pasting text from a Word document into Excel 97 (the version I have been using) it doesn't retain the formatting. Excel 97 does retain the formatting if copying and pasting from an Excel 97 spreadsheet.

Are you pasting into the cell, or into the formula bar? You won't get any formatting if you paste into the formula bar.
