Default Ongoing Nightmare - Opening a .txt. or .csv containing HTML script

This has been an ongoing problem that I can not figure out. Every time I open a file in excel (.txt or .csv) with html script, it parses the script as well as the columns. These files are coming from an outside source so I do not have the liberty of asking them to use a different delimiter to prevent the issue. How I can import the following example and keep it from parsing incorrectly?

Column A
001-12,February,<br><br>test, why, me</br>who knows</br>

BECOMES

Column A|Column B|Column C| Column D| Column E
001-12 February <br><br>test why me</br>who knows</br>

Instead of:
Column A|Column B|Column C
001-12 February <br><br>test, why, me</br>who knows</br>

No offense but I really wish people focused more on the question than the cross post. Yes, I posted the question in several forums because I am DESPERATELY trying to find an answer to this ongoing problem - hence "Ongoing Nightmare" in the title. I am stuck because of this delimiter issue with the html in several worksheets. Obviously, once the question was answered with a working solution, I would post answered or closed. You will see this response posted in all the other threads complaining about the same issue so I will save you the trouble.

Now, can someone please help me resolve this issue?

The issue with cross posting is that in the event someone goes out of there way to write up a solution it is super annoying to write the solution only to find out it is already solved by someone else. Now with the issue you are experiencing this seems like a relatively easy thing to fix.

It sounds to me that it is a text to columns issue meaning that the text to columns settings are causing the data to parse. Before pasting in the data run a text to columns on a sample set of data and remove ALL settings. After that is done try copying and pasting your data back in and I think it should work.

Thanks
