Unable to "Shift cells down" on unprotected area in a protected worksheet
Hi all,
I am planning to protect some cells that contain formulas in my worksheet in order to avoid modifications on these cells. I managed to do just that by having the sheet protected with the protection checkbox ticked only on these cells and having the protection checkbox unticked for the rest of the cells. However, when I try to perform "Shift cells down" on some of the unprotected cells (basically: highlight cells, right click, insert, shift cells down), I found that the "insert" option is greyed out thereby preventing me to perform "Shift cells down". I am aware that I could perform insert rows by enabling the selection during protection, but this is not what I want since insert rows will affect my protected cells as well. What I want is just to shift some cells down on the unprotected area of the worksheet. Could somebody offer me an advice on how to get around this? Thanks.
