Make text value in a cell appear in parentheses
Greetings all! My question I believe is a simple one, but I could not get it to work myself. I need text value in a cell to appear in parentheses. For example, if I enter 357 in a cell, it should appear there as "357". Obviously something to do with cell format... Can you help me? |

I think you mean double-quotes, not parentheses. Parentheses would be easy. Even single-quotes can be done. To do that, set the custom format for the cells to "'"#"'" (i.e. double-quote,single-quote,double-quote on either side of the #). This will format 357 as '357'.
I tried to do it similarly for double-quotes, but it didn't work. |

Yes, I mean double-quotes. Sorry! The English is my second language.
Well, but I really need double-quotes not single-quotes. The application I intend to use this spreadsheet for requres double-quotes! Any ideas? |

Figured it out!
Use the custom format: \"#\" |

Hi!
It works, but only for figures - not for text. If I enter 100, it shows it as "100", but if I enter "hundred", it remains as hundred. |
