Default Save to PDF stopped working

Sorry if this has been asked before but "PDF" is too short for the search engine...

I am using Office 2010 on Windows 7 Home (64bit).

Saving as a PDF file seems to have stopped working. Has this been caused by a recent Windows Update? Is it a known problem - or am I doing something wrong?

Affects both Word and Excel.

Thanks,
Roy

Have you tried repairing the Office installation (via Programs & Features > Microsoft Office > Change in the Windows Control Panel)?

Paul - many thanks for your help.

I hadn't tried that - but I have now and unfortunately it makes no difference.

The response from Excel is "Document not saved" and from Word it's "The export failed due to an unexpected error."

No other indication of what the problem might be and nothing in the Event Logs.

Why do these niggles always bite you just when things are at their most stressful!! :-)

It was working fine a week ago!

In that case, you might try using System Restore to re-set your system to its settings of a week ago.

Hmm... I think the only thing that has changed is that I have done an Adobe Photoshop CC update.

I wonder if that could have any bearing on it...

Well, if System Restore fixes things, then applying the Adobe Photoshop CC update again breaks it, you'll know what the culprit is.

Apols if this turns up twice but I just got to the end of typing, used a button on my mouse (that should be set up to paste) and lost the lot! Frustrating or what!

OK - I did a Restore to a point the day before the Photoshop updates were released. The Restore point told me that only Photoshop and Lightroom would be affected.

After the Restore Lightroom was indeed at the earlier version but strangely, Photoshop wasn't.

However - the "Save to PDF" in Word & Excel were now working.

I Uninstalled Photoshop, and then reinstalled it and the latest version of Lightroom.

"Save to PDF" continued to work.

There are no Windows updates needed - that's all up to date.

So I have no idea what was causing the problem but at least it's now working and I can get on with things! Something corrupted I guess.

Many thanks for your help.

Roy
