Default A graph for large amount of data

Hi There everyone, I'm an , I'm working on a project to test the daylighting performance of 1200 different configurations inside a room. Here are the deatils:

I'm testing so many variables such as ceiling form, ceiling material, lightshelf shape, and more architectural features that are beyond the scoop of this forum. I have a total of 8 variables for each configuration, listed in columns, and the ninth column lists the the daylight performance of each configuration (average illuminance inside the room ), is there anyway I can show all 1200 configurations in one graph or a plot. or possibly divide them in two graphs according to lightshelf shape, because I have only two kinds of light-shelves, flat and curved. Any help would be much appreciated.

Typically, attaching your current work is far more informative than a description.

If I understand correctly, you have 8 inputs. These are ceiling form, ceiling material, lightshelf shape, and 5 others. Each of these may have two or more values of some sort e.g. lightshelf shape has two values (i.e. is binary). These 8 inputs lead to one output: daylight performance.

At any rate, such analysis is best suited to a "design of experiment" (DOE). IMHO, graphical analysis using Excel will be difficult since it is basically 8 dimensions of independent variables leading to the 9th dimension dependent variable. Statistical software (e.g. Minitab) would give the precise answer for optimizing the inputs.

Less precisely, perhaps there is some way to use Excel. But again, your sheet would be helpful.

Gebbos, Thanks for the response, you understood me correctly, also I uploaded a sample file , all variables are explained at the top , the number of the configurations will be the product of all variables 2x3x3x3x3xx2x2x2= 1296. the sample file I uploaded has two rows only, however my real file will have 1296 rows. I couldn't upload the real file because I'm still working on it.

I forgot to mention that I prefer to divide the data into two groups. One group with flat lightshelf, and the other group with curved lightshelf. then put each group in some kind of a graph or plot.

Yeah...this is a classic DOE exercise. I don't know any way to graphically represent this in Excel. I tried to install an oldish version of Minitab the other day but my DVD drive was acting up. Apparently, my laptop needs a Windows reinstall which will hopefully address that issue. I don't have much hope for being able to successfully install Minitab since I now have Windows 7 and so much software became immediately obsolete with it (thank you so &$*%# much Microsoft).

But if I can, I'll let you know.

I'm going to download a trial version. Maybe it will have DOEs enabled. Do you have all 1296 data points?
