Question Group Date by Quarter in PIVOT TABLE

I have a list of data set. One column has the date which is broken down over a period of one year (i.e - 1/13/2013, 3/4/2013, 5/12/2013, 7/13/2013, 9/12/2013, 11/10/2013 and so on..... Is there a way to group the date by Quarter in my Pivot table. I want the quarter option to show but don't know how to do this. I only see the individual date coming up but want it grouped by quarter. This way I get to group revenue by quarter rather than the individualized date by revenue.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

I think you would have to do a calculated column, call it quarter. An easy IF statement based on the date. Then have that one of your row or column headings.

Right click the range with dates in your PT - Selct " Group" - Select quarters ( and the start date) If it does not work, post a sample sheet ( no pics please) (grouping does not work if f.e. the range contains blanks

I'd be interested in how Peco's solution works. I can't seem to figure out how to do it that way.

Anyhoo...attached is the way I did it.

Thanks so much Pecoflyer, Got a clearer explanation from other source to figure it out but looking at your solution - I see its what you tried to explain just that I couldn't translate it well.

Simply put - Right click the data in the Date Pivot table column and select range and specify the option of Month, Quarter ......

Thanks Gebobs (U're awesome) that works too.
