Is it possible to add a custom macro button to the FILE tab of the ribbon in excel
I am using Excel 2010 32bit on a Windows 7 64bit system. Is it possible to add a custom button to the FILE tab of the ribbon? We want to add a button that runs a macro to save files into our document management system - the button would ideally be under the save button on the file tab and would say something like "save to doc manager" I am aware of the ability to customise the ribbon in Excel 2010 but cannot find how to add buttons to the file tab, can I just re-iterate we need to customise the bit that opens on the left hand side when you click the FILE tab - not any other part of the ribbon. can anyone point me in the right direction please? All help is greatly appreciated!!! |

BTW I do realise it would be much easier to not do this and just use a custom ribbon button /tab but basically I have been asked to do it this way, even though it would be easier to do it another way

After much searching I have found out that this view is called the backstage view - this article may help others find the right direction as well
