How to change the font color of cell values
I have around 400 values in each cell A2 and A3. Now I want to change the font color of each values in A3 based on values in A2 with some conditions. If the value in A3 is equal to value in A2 then color should be black, if value in A3 is greater than A2 then color should be red and if value in A3 is less than A2 then color should be green.
Can it be done with Conditional Formatting? If yes, then please tell me how to do it? |

Hi and welcome do you mean you have 400 values in one cell ?

Sorry for my mistake.
Actually I have values in cell A from A2 to A400 and in cell B from B2 to B400. Now I want to apply a formatting or formula for cell B2 to B400 with these conditions. If value in B is equal to value in A then font color is black. If value in B greater than value in A then font color is red. If value in B is less than value in A then font color is green. I want to apply these conditions only on cell B. I think I have explained my problem clearly this time. I have also attached a sample of my worksheet. |

By cell, you mean column.

Yes, I mean B column.
Can anyone please tell me that is it possible with any formula or additional settings or not ? |

Select all the values in column B. Go to conditional formatting and New Rule.
Format Only Cells That Contain Set condition to "equal to". For the range, type in "=$A2". If you select the cell to enter this, be sure to delete the $ between the A and the 2. Set your formatting. Press OK. Repeat for the other rules accordingly. |

Quote:
"=$A2" & be sure to delete the $ between the A and the 2. I did not get this one. |

I attached a copy of you sheet with the formatting rules you specified.
Of the six rule types, use the second: Format Only Cells That Contain Using the range "=$A2" (don't use the quotes) makes the range relative for rows and absolute for the column. You don't really need the $ before the A either. Since you are only doing this over one column, absolute reference for the column is unnecessary. See attached screen capture. |
