Volunteer GPS Mapping Project
I have Excel spreadsheets that have a single column containing the following "typical" GPS cell data.
N34 27.576 , W82 34.857 In order for another program to extract this info and work, I need to modify my spreadsheet so that I have TWO columns and not one. #1 Column = N34 27.576 #2 Column = W82 34.857 Any chance your know how to do this by using a formula..? Paul at kankula@bellsouth.net |

A)
if the data length is fixed, you can use LEFT & RIGHT functions. Means if 10 length is fixed for data, hope the following will resolve your query. if your data is in column A and starts from row 2 (A2) in first column use =left(a2,10) and in other column use =right(a2,10). B) in Office 2013, if your data is in first column and starts from A2, Flash Fill can resolve your problem. type the data N34 27.576 and use CTRL+Enter. |

I'll be sure to give this a try in the next week or two. THANKS!
(I have 46 spreadsheets with 13,000+ datalines.) |

Since you have a comma separating the latitude & longitude, you could simply use Data>Text to Columns, with a comma delimiter. No formulae required.
