Default Setting formatting for field with email hyperlink

I maintain a membership roster using Excel 2007. The roster includes a column for each member's email address, and I've formatted this column so the text appears in plain text. However, every time I add or update an email address, that cell's formatting automatically inserts a hyperlink with a tiny font, forcing me to remove the hyperlink and change the font to the one set for the rest of the worksheet.

I've tried everything I can think to format this column so the format of these cells never changes when I add/update an email address.

There's probably a simple way but I cannot find it. How can I do this?

Thank you!
