How to Stop compatibility warnings
Using Office '10, I have the default file save set to .xls since created worksheets often go to people using earlier Excel versions. We do not use anything close to advanced Excel abilities so saving as .xls is just fine.
Although I can uncheck the warning box to not check compatibility the next time, Excel will still post the warning on when a different file under the same circumstances is loaded. Is there a way to tell the program is stop checking for compatibility? Thanks, Mark |

Have you tried unchecking the box that says "Check compatibility when saving this workbook" on the message box?
If that doesn't do it let us know I'm sure it's in the options somewhere to turn it off. |

To disable compatibility warnings follow these steps...
Using Excel(2010) Go on the 'File' tab Click on 'Info' from menu options Now click on 'Check for Issues' Now click on 'Check Compatibility' Now clear the check 'Compatibility when you save this Workbook' box Using Excel(2007) Go on the 'Office' button Now click on 'Prepare' from the menu Now click on 'Run Compatibility Checker' Now clear the check 'Compatibility when you save this Workbook' box You can also control Compatibility Checker with VBA code as like this... Make it turn off: ActiveWorkbook.CheckCompatibility = False Make it turn on: ActiveWorkbook.CheckCompatibility = True Where ActiveWorkbook is name of your current file. |

The directions for '10 worked.
However, the directions for '07 do not set a *global default? Mark |

Hi Mark,
Methods work for both MS Office: 2007 & 2010. I have not found any problem with 2007. What is the problem with 2007 in your case? You can check here for more details: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...ffice.14).aspx |

Click prepare, compatibility checker, uncheck box, okay. Open again, the box is still checked. That appears to be the problem, the box does not remain checked. I'd rather not have to deal with a script hack since my knowledge of scripting does not even extend to opening whatever editor is necessary. Mark |
