Hide Divide by Zero Option?
I've seen a few tips on how to hide "#DIV/0!" using an IF statement. I.e., =IF(A2=0,"",A1/A2)
Any chance Microsoft has decided to make this a global option so it could be checked once rather than applying an IF statement to all of the cells where the calculation might apply? |

Not that I've heard. And it isn't clear to me how they would—that is, it seems to me that everyone who wants to use it would like a different output. You want a null character string, but someone else might want a different calculation.
But that's speculation. To answer your question, I haven't heard any talk of such an option. |

Thanks for the reply. Rather than pick which format or option to choose, they could simply leave it up to the user. In other words:
Display #DIV/0! error as: _____________ And then the user could put in " ", 0, -, etc. Oh well. Just a suggestion. Thanks again. |

Ok, I have to admit that's a workable idea. I hadn't thought of that.

No Excel version to date has supported that, and I doubt MS is about to introduce such a change - it would probably break backwards compatibility, meaning worksheets using it couldn't be used on older systems. Somehow I doubt users would welcome such unsupported features: (a) causing crashes; or (b) being converted to text instead of formulae.
