Question turnaround time minutes divided by volume

Hi
I have a time for an operation calculated in minutes. It produces a volume of items per operation. I am trying to extrapolate an hourly rate of volume produced for that activity: Activities per hour sum =(60/Activity time in minutes)*volume

It doesn't like minutes divied by a number.
-- How do I get an answer from an amount formatted in minutes divided by an amount formatted as a number?

If your activity time is expressed in decimal, it should be no problem .
Add a small sample so we can see the formats you are using

Question time expressed as a ratio divided by numbers

Hi here is a sample. I guess the time format here is not a percentage.
-- Is there a specified format in Excel or
-- a handy formula to change a time to a percentage?

If i express the time in numerals, the difference shows as "0" = problem

SDD + CollectionActivity UOMUnitsStartFinishElapsed TimeLost TimeHeldSE = activities per hr309844 AFSearch/Locate/edit/statsTitle112:1012:150:050:0020.0Search/Locate/edit/statsTitle112:1912:240:050:00#REF!Search/Locate/edit/statsTitle112:2512:290:04#REF!Search/Locate/edit/statsTitle112:3112:330:02#REF!Search/Locate/edit/statsTitle112:3412:380:04#REF!Search/Locate/edit/statsTitle112:3912:420:03#REF!

and now with incorrect answers...

Question time expressed as a ratio divided by numbers

sorry - the excel spreadsheet didn't copy well into this email.
the time is expressed as a ration, 14:44 14:46 14:47 14:49 etc
I am trying to divide the difference between two times by a number. the difference is expressed as a ratio 0:02 0:03 0:06 etc
it doesn't work.
-- how do i get it to work?
kind regards
tweeter

Question Divide time, expressed as minutes, by a number

Hi I have now attached an example - thanks for the directions
How do I divide a number expressed in time format by a number and get a sensible answer? I am looking for a potential number of units produced per hour extrapolated from a brief example of a few minutes (a lot of them) surely this is a common issue...
can anyone help me with the problem? I have manually added the time as a number in a new column and am using that to currently get my results. I wonder if there is an easier way to do this? or a tried and true method? or not?...

In K2 try =D2*60/I2 and pull down as needed. As your time is expressed in decimal the conversion to time is annihilated by the conversion of 60 minutes to time;

BTW the use of SUM is not necessary in this case

Excel sees a day as being =1. An hour is thus =1/24, a minute to 1/1440, etc...
So if the data is expressed as real time ( 00:10:00, say) you can replace 60 ( decimal value) by 1/24 ( time value)

Be aware that in some cases you can have a text string looking like time (underlying value is text) instead of being real time (underlying value is a number as described before)
