Excel 2007, highlight entire row based on data found in one cell
Hello all,
The subject line pretty much describes what I want to do. I've read a ton online and for whatever reason I cant seem to get it to work. I have a growing excel file with several different users. They all use 12 inch screens that are irreplaceable so i am trying to make a better visual mouse trap here. They must use the excel file to pull info from based on using a sales order number. They currently Control F and punch in the number which highlights the cell but i think they (older employees wearing glasses) would like it better if it were to highlight the entire row the cell is in so they can have a better visual location assistant. I have tried highlighting the whole gride and doing some conditional formatting but have not had any luck with the correct formula. Thanks for any and all assistance |

Would it suit their purpose if, having done the <Ctrl-F>, they then hit <Shift-Space>? That selects the entire row, which highlights it though not in a color you can control.
If you want a more noticeable color, all that occurs to me is a VBA solution: Set it up on their machines so that <Ctrl-F> triggers a VBA macro rather than the Find function (can we do that?). The macro acts like Find in that it receives the string and locates it in the worksheet, but then highlights the entire row in some bright color. |

I found the shift+space bar solution earlier and will try to give it a shot but as you mentioned it will not highlight but only frame the row. We will see if that helps for now. As for your second option it sounds good but I don't know if it's an option for us but will pitch it to our IT dept.
Thanks for your insight so far. |
