Is there a formula to do the following:-

Sheet 1: Column C say, rows 3 to 8 have the values 4, 6, 5, 2, 3 and 1

I would like to capture in Sheet 2: the maximum of the above 6 values

Yes - but how do you reference the previous sheet ?

In the destination cell enter =MAX( then go to the source sheet and select the range. Add the closing parenthesis. XL adds all that is needed by itself
