Unhappy Find & Replace problems... at the end of my thread (ha)

Hey guys. I have Excel 2007. I have a spreadsheet with email addresses in it surrounded by other text. I want to automatically highlight in yellow each row containing the words gmail, yahoo, hotmail and so on.

I CTRL-H then enter the info as you see it in the pic attached. When I click Replace All it says "that function is not valid". It works like a charm for every other word I test it with. It's almost interesting in a head-exploding kind of way.

Any ideas?

I only recently graduated past Excel 2003 and didn't even know I could find-and-replace formatting like this; so first I trotted off and confirmed that. Then I thought the problem was that you can't replace text without changing it in some way—you can't change "x" to "x"—but no, that works too. In fact, if you're saying that "gmail" is the one word your Excel won't change, I'm sorry but it's working alright for me. If you'll attach the actual workbook, maybe we'll be able to figure out something.

I really don't know what is wrong with my Excel. It was killing me silently. Luckily someone introduced me to the conditional formatting, which does exactly what i need done. Insanity narrowly averted.

if the editing toolbar is in your ribbon, go to Find & Select (Binoculars)/ Go to Special. Click the radio Button next to Blanks & hut enter. this will highlight the blanks.

In the Cells ribbon box, go to delete & select what you want to delete, rows, columns or cells... Poof, They're gone.

Takes some getting used to but works every time...If you get too carried away, CTRL+Z will undo it ;P
